As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 145 people, 72 households, and 43 families residing in the city. The population density was 571.1 people per square mile (223.9/km²). There were 96 housing units at an average density of 378.1 per square mile (148.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.86% White and 4.14% Native American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.14% of the population.
There were 72 households out of which 23.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.6% were married couples living together, 4.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.9% were non-families. 38.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 27.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.01 and the average family size was 2.64.
In the city the population was spread out with 18.6% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 20.0% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 32.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The Gaylord government consists of a mayor and five council members. The council meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30PM.[1]
